Living in the ruins of Detroit
Today we met the fabulous guy Allan Hills in Detroit, The Motor City of the World. Allan is living in the ruins of Detroit – at the abandoned plant where they used to make the world famous luxury car, Packard.
Packard was the biggest factory in the world with its 3,500,000-square-feet (325,000 m2) buildings. It was opened in 1903 and made the American Dream real for tens of thousands of workers that became the middle class in America.
“It’s very sad to live in these ruins and to think back at the old days. This city was the epicenter of the world. It was the place to be. It was like New York and Paris. Today they say it’s the murder capital of the world and the largest ghetto in the world. But I’m sure that the city will be rising again”, says Allan.
Stay tuned. More on Allan later on in Hard.Land…
